1:1 [hb5] 　神的僕人、耶穌基督的使徒保羅、憑著　神選民的信心、與敬虔真理的知識、

    [kjv] Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

    [bbe] Paul, a servant of God, and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, in agreement with the faith of the saints of God and the full knowledge of what is true in harmony with religion,

1:2 [hb5] 盼望那無謊言的　神、在萬古之先所應許的永生、

    [kjv] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

    [bbe] In the hope of eternal life, which was made certain before eternal time, by the word of God who is ever true;

1:3 [hb5] 到了日期、藉著傳揚的工夫、把他的道顯明了．這傳揚的責任、是按著　神我們救主的命令交託了我。

    [kjv] But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

    [bbe] Who, in his time, made clear his word in the good news, of which, by the order of God our Saviour, I became a preacher;

1:4 [hb5] 現在寫信給提多、就是照著我們共信之道作我真兒子的．願恩惠平安、從父　神和我們的救主基督耶穌歸與你。

    [kjv] To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

    [bbe] To Titus, my true child in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.

1:5 [hb5] 我從前留你在革哩底、是要你將那沒有辦完的事都辦整齊了、又照我所吩咐你的、在各城設立長老．

    [kjv] For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

    [bbe] I did not take you with me when I went away from Crete, so that you might do what was necessary to put things in order there, placing men in authority over the churches in every town, as I said to you;

1:6 [hb5] 若有無可指責的人、只作一個婦人的丈夫、兒女也是信主的、沒有人告他們是放蕩不服約束的、就可以設立。

    [kjv] If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

    [bbe] Men having a good record, husbands of one wife, whose children are of the faith, children of whom it may not be said that they are given to loose living or are uncontrolled.

1:7 [hb5] 監督既是　神的管家、必須無可指責、不任性、不暴躁、不因酒滋事、不打人、不貪無義之財、

    [kjv] For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

    [bbe] For it is necessary for a Bishop to be a man of virtue, as God's servant; not pushing himself forward, not quickly moved to wrath or blows, not desiring profit for himself;

1:8 [hb5] 樂意接待遠人、好善、莊重、公平、聖潔、自持．

    [kjv] But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

    [bbe] But opening his house freely to guests; a lover of what is good, serious-minded, upright, holy, self-controlled;

1:9 [hb5] 堅守所教真實的道理、就能將純正的教訓勸化人．又能把爭辯的人駁倒了。

    [kjv] Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

    [bbe] Keeping to the true word of the teaching, so that he may be able to give comfort by right teaching and overcome the arguments of the doubters.

1:10 [hb5] 因為有許多人不服約束、說虛空話、欺哄人．那奉割禮的、更是這樣。

    [kjv] For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

    [bbe] For there are men who are not ruled by law; foolish talkers, false teachers, specially those of the circumcision,

1:11 [hb5] 這些人的口總要堵住．他們因貪不義之財、將不該教導的教導人、敗壞人的全家。

    [kjv] Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

    [bbe] By whom some families have been completely overturned; who take money for teaching things which are not right; these will have to be stopped.

1:12 [hb5] 有革哩底人中的一個本地先知說、『革哩底人常說謊話、乃是惡獸、又饞又懶．』

    [kjv] One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

    [bbe] One of their prophets has said, The men of Crete are ever false, evil beasts, lovers of food, hating work.

1:13 [hb5] 這個見證是真的。所以你要嚴嚴的責備他們、使他們在真道上純全無疵．

    [kjv] This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

    [bbe] This witness is true. So say sharp words to them so that they may come to the right faith,

1:14 [hb5] 不聽猶太人荒渺的言語、和離棄真道之人的誡命。

    [kjv] Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

    [bbe] Giving no attention to the fictions of the Jews and the rules of men who have no true knowledge.

1:15 [hb5] 在潔淨的人、凡物都潔淨．在污穢不信的人、甚麼都不潔淨．連心地和天良、也都污穢了。

    [kjv] Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

    [bbe] To the clean in heart all things are clean: but to those who are unclean and without faith nothing is clean; they become unclean in mind and in thought.

1:16 [hb5] 他們說是認識　神、行事卻和他相背．本是可憎惡的、是悖逆的、在各樣善事上是可廢棄的。

    [kjv] They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    [bbe] They say that they have knowledge of God, while by their acts they are turning their backs on him; they are hated by all, hard-hearted, and judged to be without value for any good work.

	[kjv]	Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
	[bbe]	To the clean in heart all things are clean: but to those who are unclean and without faith nothing is clean; they become unclean in mind and in thought.
1:16	[hb5]	他們說是認識　神、行事卻和他相背．本是可憎惡的、是悖逆的、在各樣善事上是可廢棄的。
	[kjv]	They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
